Acrypol+ Waterproof Roof Coating: The Professional Choice for All-Weather Repairs
When a roof begins to leak during a heavy downpour, most traditional repair methods have to wait for a dry spell. This is because standard coatings require a bone-dry surface to bond effectively. Acrypol+ Waterproof Roof Coating changes the game, offering a high-performance solution that works even when the weather isn't on your side.
What is Acrypol+?
Acrypol+ is a professional-grade, semi-liquid paste made from acrylic resin dispersed in a solvent. It is specifically engineered to provide instant waterproofing for day-to-day roof maintenance and emergency patching.
One of its standout features is the integrated fibre reinforcement. These fibres act like a built-in scrim, interlacing as you apply the coating to automatically bridge and fill gaps or cracks up to 10mm wide.
Once applied, it dries into a tough, seamless, and elastic overlay that prevents water ingress while allowing trapped internal moisture to evaporate, preventing the risk of blisters.
Why Should You Use It for Your Next Project?
Whether you are a maintenance contractor or a property owner managing your own repairs, Acrypol+ offers several key advantages:
True All-Weather Application: Unlike most products, Acrypol+ can be applied in damp weather conditions. This makes it an essential tool for carrying out remedial repairs during long spells of inclement weather.
Exceptional Versatility: It can be used on almost any roof surface, including flat roofs, asphalt, bituminous surfaces, leadwork, metals, PVC, concrete, and even glass.
Simple One-Coat System: For most general property maintenance and patching, a simple one-coat application is all that's required. It can be easily brushed on or applied with a squeegee.
Extreme Durability: The fibre-reinforced formula increases the tensile strength of the dry film, making it an ultra-tough, long-term solution rather than just a temporary fix.
Ready to Use: There is no complex mixing required; it is ready for use straight from the tin, making it a highly efficient proposition for any labour team.
If you are dealing with a leak, a cracked flashing, or a failing flat roof, Acrypol+ provides the professional-grade seal you need—regardless of what the British weather is doing.
How To Correctly Apply Acrypol+ for a Professional Finish
1. Surface Preparation
- General Cleaning: Ensure the surface is clean and free from loose debris.
- Suitability: Acrypol+ can be applied to almost any surface, including flat roofs, asphalt, leadwork, metals, PVC, concrete, and felt.
- Special Metals: Give extra attention to the preparation of aluminium, zinc, galvanised, or corroded metals before starting.
- Priming: Generally, no primer is required. However, for highly porous or friable surfaces (like old concrete or asbestos), apply Acrypol Sealer AS8000 first for the best results.
2. Treating Cracks and Voids
- Small Cracks: Acrypol+ features integrated fibres that act as a "built-in scrim" to fill and bridge gaps or cracks up to 10mm wide automatically.
- Large Voids: For gaps larger than 10mm, fill with an appropriate flexible filler first. Alternatively, cover the void with heavy-duty adhesive tape and apply a liberal 15cm wide stroke of Acrypol+ over it.
- Reinforcement: While the coating is wet over large repairs, bed a strip of Acrypol Flexible Scrim into the area and allow it to settle overnight.
3. Application Method
- Tool Choice: Apply as a semi-liquid paste using a heavy duty brush or the unique Acrypol Squeegee.
- Working into Damp Surfaces: If the surface is damp, use a circular motion with your brush or squeegee to work the product into the substrate. This removes excess moisture and ensures total adhesion before you brush it out fully.
- Single Coat Efficiency: For general maintenance and patching repairs, a simple one-coat application is usually sufficient.
- Coverage Rate: Aim for a minimum coverage of 1kg/m² to 2kg/m². Note that textured or highly porous surfaces may require more product.
4. Aftercare and Limitations
- Drying Time: The coating typically takes 24 hours to dry, depending on the temperature and ventilation.
- Air Vents: If the building has air conditioning, seal the vents for at least 24 hours during and after application.
- Safety Restrictions: Do not use Acrypol+ on balconies, walking surfaces, wooden surfaces, fishponds, or for any internal applications.
- Storage: Keep the lid secure to ensure a shelf life of several years, and store at a moderate, even temperature.
